DIY Puzzle

Easy little tiger + parent craft • Vocabulary booster

Today at Malty HQ in NYC, it's a wrap-yourself-in-a-blanket type day. But, in all honesty, we're not complaining, because cold outdoor weather means more fun indoor activities, like this savvy English + Spanish vocabulary puzzle

Using new vocabulary words from Malty the Blue Tiger, this puzzle inspires your little one to use color- and word-matching skills to crack the code. What's great is that you can now buy blank puzzle pieces from craft stores like Michaels, giving you the chance to get creative and make the brain-boosting puzzle of your dreams with your little one.

Ask your little tiger to paint each puzzle piece the allotted color (this is also a fantastic way to teach colors in both languages!). Then, help him or her write the vocabulary words on each piece. The matching English and Spanish words appear next to each other in the puzzle, giving your child hints as to where each piece goes and helping them sharpen their vocabulary skills.

Don't forget to show us your creative puzzles by using the hashtag #MaltyTheBlueTiger. We can't wait to see what you create!

Hugs and roars,

Your Malty Friends 💙

Step 1

Paint blank puzzle pieces various colors. For an easier puzzle, make sure two pieces of the same color are always touching. For a more complicated puzzle, mix them up!

Step 2

Write vocabulary words (one in Spanish, one in English) from the "Words I Learned Today" section of

the book on adjacent puzzle pieces.

Ask your child to put the puzzle together using the words as hints. In the easier version, the colors will also guide young learners to connecting pieces.

In the more advanced version, children will rely on the words and puzzle piece shapes alone.

Put the pebbles your child brings home to good use!

This Biscuit Brook Photo Frame will cherish their memories for years to come.

Make it now!
